We rented this book for one of my daughters classes. love the designs. It is also fascinating for what it reveals about the politics of the time. The writing is good and it's easy to follow the topics. You might not. Will we ever tire of hearing about his butcher father, his drug-induced introduction to Christianity and his own sexuality (about which he is more engagingly coy)? Not, I suggest, if he writes about it like this.So far this might not seem to be the average book in the biblical studies catalogue. I would recommend this book to anyone that is planning to design and build a custom home. But here's the thing, in my humble opinion: our society is excessively individualistic. Although there is a great deal about Paris, the book as a whole rambles over much of France and even the Mediterranean. As many reviews have said this book has great travel descriptions of Provence and some of Paris but the plot barely moves. It is an amazing work, such a stunning compendium of erudition in such a wide array of difficult and rigorous subjects that the ordinary rules and reasons of writing a review don't really apply to it.Reviewing any other work would function with the assumption that you *had* actually read it; that you were familiar with it; and also that you were implicitly prepared to face intelligent rebuttal with regard to the opinion you offered an
