The Power Makers' Challenge: And the Need for Fission Energy (Green Energy and Technology)

This book is a distillation of his memories and notes he kept from that period. The book therefore indirectly tells the story of how much of America felt about France during the fifties.I can wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone interested either in the years following the war or in France or Paris in general. It is entertaining and informative at the same time.I'd like to add that the photograph on the paperback edition of the book (and I supposed on the dust jacket of the hardback) is one of the most remarkable I have ever seen of Paris. Unless you have no computer (how are you reading this then? :-) there is no reason to buy this old paper-only edition. There is a great deal he doesn't discuss, such as French cinema and art in the decade. One of them is carving cool designs in bone. He thinks it is great.. 'The Celtic Copy Book: Celtic Designs to Photocopy') that also include a small selection of colorized versions of things previously published in black-and-white in 'Celtic and Old Norse Designs'.As for this particular book's content, as other readers note, it is rather basic, and quite short. A couple somewhere in Paris (the angles make it look to be somewhere east of Montmartre) looks over Paris with Notre Dame and the Eiffel Tower off in the distance.. He expressed an interest in Celtic design for carving in the future so I

Following a general introduction to electricity and its distribution, the author quantifies the reductions needed in greenhouse gas emissions from the power sector in the face of ever increasing world demands for electricity. There are widely differing views about solutions to electricity generation in an emission constrained world. It is written for both non-technical and technical readers.. The Power Makers ’ Challenge: and the need for Fission Energy looks at why using only conventional renewable energy sources is not quite as simple as it seems. Many electricity industry engineers and scientists see the problem as being much more involved. The Power Makers - the producers of our electricity - must meet the demands of their customers while also addressing the threat of climate change. It provides some much needed background on the many energy sources available for producing electricity and discusses their advantages and limitations to meet both the emission reduction challenge and electricity demand.By analyzing the three main groups of energy sources: renewable energy, fossil fuels and fission energy (nuclear power), readers can assess the ability of each group to meet the challenge of both reducing emissions and maintaining reliable supply at least cost. Some see the problem as relatively straight forward, requiring deep cuts in emissions now by improving energy efficiency, energy
